Pamela Hayes Speaks About GSE

Pamela Hayes led a GSE group through Central Europe for 30 days for our district. Her group consisted of a realtor, an eigth grade teacher, a critical care nurse, and the vice president of a boarding school. The group went through Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria. One of her favorite countries was Hungary. She found the people to be very welcoming and was able to meet many of the townspeople as the cities they were visiting small towns. In Croatia, the team saw a 400 year old grape vine. Central Europeans eat a lot of meat so the trip to the cafeteria at the UN Headquarters was a welcome place to enjoy some vegetables.

The Rotary Clubs in Central Europe were very different. Of the twelve meetings they attended, only one had a program. This program was about an hour and a half long and in German. They also do not have fines and they do not honor their countries by pledging allegiance to their flags.
